<Note>
Clevid assessments run inside the **Clevid Desktop Client** on Windows and macOS. Candidates can install and launch the app as a standard desktop application without needing administrator rights or system restarts.
</Note>

## Before you begin

Make sure your organization workspace is set up in the [HR Console](/dashboard) and that you have:

- **Recruiter or Admin role** permissions in your organization.
- At least one **Question Bank** (MCQ or Coding) or custom questions ready to attach.
- Candidate email addresses (or a standard CSV export from Workday, Greenhouse, or Lever).

## 1. Create an assessment

Open **Assessments → Create Assessment** in the HR Console to set up your test title, duration, passing threshold, and question sections.

| Setting | What It Controls | Recommended Default |
| --- | --- | --- |
| **Duration** | Total time allotted once the candidate clicks **Start Assessment** | `45` – `75` minutes |
| **Passing Score** | Target benchmark percentage highlighted in the results table | `70%` |
| **Single-Monitor Mode** | Requires candidates to unplug secondary displays before starting | Enabled for final & campus rounds |
| **Screen & Webcam Recording** | Captures synchronized screen and camera video during the active timer | Enabled |

## 2. Configure question bank sampling

To prevent question sharing across campus drives or large cohorts, Clevid can draw a unique, balanced paper for each candidate from your linked Question Banks.

| Sampling Mode | Behavior | Best For |
| --- | --- | --- |
| **Fixed Paper** | Every candidate receives the same curated question set in shuffled order | Small final-round role benchmarks |
| **Balanced Pool** | Draws a set number of Easy, Medium, and Hard questions per candidate | Campus placement drives & 500+ candidate cohorts |
| **Topic-Balanced** | Balances skill tags (e.g., `sql`, `data-structures`, `aptitude`) across sections | Generalist engineering & analyst screens |

<Warning>
Once the first candidate starts an active session, the assessment's passing score and section point weights are locked so every candidate in the cohort is graded on the exact same scale. Duplicate the assessment if you need to adjust scoring rules for a new batch.
</Warning>

## 3. Invite candidates

You can invite candidates individually from the **Invite Candidates** tab or upload a batch CSV exported from your ATS. Each candidate receives a personal invitation link and access code that expires automatically after your chosen window.

## 4. Review the Candidate Evidence Dossier

When a candidate submits their session, Clevid compiles their **Evidence Dossier** inside **Assessments → Results**:

1. **Automated Score & Code Results**: View overall scores, per-section breakdowns, and passed test cases.
2. **Synchronized Video & Timeline**: Watch the candidate's screen and webcam recording alongside a clickable timeline of any focus changes or environment alerts.
3. **Human-in-the-Loop Decision**: Automated flags never fail a candidate automatically. Reviewers inspect the clip and mark the attempt as **Verified**, **Request Retake**, or **Confirmed Violation** with a short note.
