The **Assessment Builder** (`/dashboard/assessment/create`) lets engineering managers and university recruiters assemble structured evaluations in minutes.

## Assessment structure

Every Clevid assessment consists of three layers:

1. **Metadata & Window**: Title, role track, total duration (in minutes), invitation expiry window, and passing score threshold.
2. **Question Mix & Sections**: A combination of Multiple-Choice (single or multi-select) and Coding problems drawn either directly or from reusable **Question Banks**.
3. **Proctoring & Workspace Policy**: Pre-test readiness checks, camera/screen recording toggles, and single-monitor rules.

<Note>
You can preview the exact candidate experience at any time before sending live invitations.
</Note>

## Scoring & grading mechanics

Clevid computes candidate scores automatically as soon as the session is submitted or the timer expires:

| Question Format | Grading Method | Partial Credit Support |
| --- | --- | --- |
| **Single-Select MCQ** | Exact match against the correct option | No (`100%` or `0%`, optional negative marking) |
| **Multi-Select MCQ** | All required options selected without incorrect selections | Optional proportional credit per correct option |
| **Coding Problem** | Weighted sum of passed sample + hidden test cases | Yes—each test case carries an explicit point weight |

## Choosing a proctoring profile

Different hiring stages require different balances between convenience and strictness:

| Profile | Best For | What It Enforces |
| --- | --- | --- |
| **Standard Proctoring** | Mid-senior remote engineering screens | Desktop app required, webcam + screen recording enabled, logs focus switches |
| **High-Assurance Campus Drive** | University placement drives & large cohorts | Single monitor required, blocks floating overlays, blocks virtual machines, strict focus lock |

<Warning>
Enabling Virtual Machine blocking will prevent candidates running inside Parallels, VMware, VirtualBox, or cloud desktops from starting the test. Let candidates know in advance to use a standard Windows or macOS laptop.
</Warning>
